Sock Warning Signs

Warning signs that you may need to adjust your sock:

• When you remove your prosthesis redness remains for more than 15 min

• Excessive movement of your stump inside the socket either side to side or up and down

• Your prosthetic leg feels too short

• Your bone feels as though it is hitting the bottom of the socket

• Red marks in unusual spots on your leg

If you have an above the knee amputation you may also notice:

• You no longer sit comfortably on the ledge of your prosthesis

• You feel your leg is being squeezed within the socket

• Burning sensation

• You feel a numbness throughout your leg

• Swelling

• Cramping or unusual skin colour over the whole stump
