Employment
Here are a few organisations that will help you with aspects of finding work and applying for employment etc. Please note that there is a list of useful contacts via the link under Access to Work.
As always, do please let us know of anything we’ve missed that may be useful to others by contacting Wendy McCleave: wendy.llic@gmail.com
- ACCESS TO WORK
Access to Work can help you if your health or disability affects the way you do your job. It gives you and your employer advice and support with extra costs which may arise because of your needs. Check if you qualify for Access to Work.
- AMPUTEES IN ACTION
Amputees in Action is a unique agency, working independently to provide the UK’s largest directory of trained professional amputee actors for the film and screen industries and for emergency and military services training simulations, both home and abroad.
Our personnel use their personal trauma experiences to enable graphic realism that is second to none, and our team of special effects (SFX) make-up, moulage and prosthetic artists use cutting edge technology to enhance and extend the appearance and function of limb-loss scenarios.
- CITIZENS ADVICE BUREAU (C.A.B.)
Advice by phone is available from all Citizens Advice Bureaux (CAB). In addition, we are in the process of developing a national phone service. It will become available in different parts of the UK over the next two years.
It is now fully operational in Wales, but only for people who live or work there. In England the service is currently being rolled out area by area. If it is not yet available in your area, you will hear options for recorded information:
- for Wales call 08444 77 20 20
- for England call 08444 111 444 or check your local bureau’s contact details via the search box 0n the Website
- TextRelay users should call 08444 111 445
- DISABLED PEOPLE (See Access to Work above)
